Rescue Me ID: 15-05-27-00756Bernice (female)
At only 4 weeks old little Bernice was locked in a windowless shed to live...all because she had flea dermatitis and her then owner didn't know what it was and was afraid she was contagious. Thankfully, the owner gave Bernice up. She 6 months old now, healthy as can be, and needs a home! Bernice loves being with her people, loves other dogs and gets along with cats, too! She is a great travel companion. She also likes to greet people when they walk into a room by going 'ooOOOOooh' and wagging her tail (which cracks people up). Bernice is in Bryan, TX!

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-18-00373Carter (male)
Carter (7 months in May) came into rescue with his buddy Merlin. He was pretty thin and had some hair loss from mange that has been treated and he will look like the handsome boy he was meant to be in no time at all. He also tested heart worm positive and will be treated before adoption. Such a crime that no one cared enough to provide him with heartworm prevention - such a simple little thing to do. Carter is really a little love bug. He listens well, likes to be scratched, sleeps on the doggy bed or sleeps with you in yours. He is getting along well with the other dogs in rescue, he uses the doggy door and is learning the crate. Get this boy now while he's young and ready to go to puppy classes to be the perfect companion you are looking for. Applications are available at www.krrtx.org. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-12-00126Tako (male)
This is little man Tako. He is a bit shy right now but a sweet boy. He is around 3 years old and 21 lbs. He will be getting neutered this week. He received his shots today, unfortunately he tested moderate positive for heart worms. He will need 2 months of heart worm medication. For 2 months of the medication plus a year supply of Heartgard it will cost $153. If anyone would like to donate to helping Tako, you can make a donation at Castroville Vet Clinic, in Tako's name. He is available for foster or adoption. The adopter will have to sign a medical form that they will continue his heart worm treatment. We are waiving the adoption fee for Tako. Because he is shy we are asking for a quiet home with no small kids. Fostering is a great way to get Tako introduced to your family first! Please call 210-446-0714 if you're interested in meeting this pet. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-02-00083Benji (male)
My name is Benji and I have spent my life on the streets. I am a little nervous at first with big dogs but will warm up after. I am a little shy with people at first but then I'm a snuggle bug. Believe me that is an understatement.

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-01-00139Bonnie (female)
I pulled a very pregnant Bonnie from a high kill shelter at 6:00PM and she began giving birth at 9:00PM. She had 5 females and 3 males and all was well. She was such a good mommy, then at 3 weeks of age, the puppies came down with distemper from the shelter Bonnie had been in and she lost all but one puppy. She did a good job raising her puppy, who found her home. Now Bonnie needs her forever home. She is a very good girl. She is crate trained and house broke. She rides great in the car and walks good on a leash. She would do best with a male friend with energy cause she loves to run and play with another dog so a fenced yard would be needed. She really enjoys toys and nylon bones. She loves attention and getting hugs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-20-00437Ginger (female)
Hey there! My name is Ginger, and everyone I ever meet thinks I'm the cutest. I am a little shy at first, but once I warm up I give the sweetest snuggles and kisses. My front leg was hurt a long time ago and it didn't heal well, but don't think that slows me down a bit! I love to play with my foster family and I love a good run! . I am about 4 years old, weigh 10 lbs, I am very quiet and I don't go potty in the house.

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-06-00472Sammy Sosa (male)
Sammy Sosa is about 2-3 years old. He is a medium sized (40 lbs) terrier mix male dog. He is very sweet and friendly but can be shy at first. Once he knows his human handlers and family he is very affectionate. Because he is shy at first it is not a good idea to have him around young children that could scare him. He is a healthy beautiful dog ready for adoption. He is great with other dogs too. email: firstname.lastname@example.org for an application

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-13-00307Freya (female)
Freya was dumped by our rescue. She is now part of the pack, freshly spayed and vaccinated and a great young dog with high energy and the love of play. She has two buddies here that she plays with and needs stimulation either with a puppy buddy or human playmate. Freya is a bit on the dominant side and gets along well with dogs and cats but prefers to get her way. She is a tiny bundle of energy.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Terrier in Texas
Border Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Terriers are spunky, lively little dogs. They are eager to please and very friendly. Border Terriers get along with children, other dogs, and will do okay with cats if they are raised alongside them from the time they are puppies. Border Terriers cannot be trusted with other small animals or unfamiliar cats. Border Terriers need a lot of attention and should not be left alone for long periods of time. If they need to be left alone during the day, it is helpful to have two Border Terriers, especially if one is male and one female. Fences should be reinforced at the base because Border Terriers are enthusiastic diggers. Border Terriers do fine living in an apartment or somewhere with a small yard, as long as they get enough exercise.
